Donate with Electronic Funds Transfer
You can eliminate processing/handling costs, need for checks, and postage costs by setting up an Electronic Funds Transfer option for making donations to I.H.S. You are in total control of the amount of your donation and can stop the donations whenever you desire. This paperless process, using secure software, allows donors to make a monthly donation to I.H.S. automatically for as long as they wish. You can either contact your bank and initiate the process through them, or you can contact Emily Hirsch at Idaho Humane Society, 4775 Dorman St., Boise, Idaho 83705, 208-331-8558, Ehirsch@idahohumanesociety.org and ask for the EFT form. We will send you the form to fill out and return to us. We then take the form to our bank, and they will set up the arrangement with your bank. You determine the day of the month that the donation is transferred and the amount, and donations continue automatically until you cancel the process. This makes regular, monthly donations easy and safe. It is an excellent way to show your support for the work of I.H.S.
Questions or Problems: If you have questions or problems with your donation please contact Chris Moore at (208) 387-2760.

Mail Solicitations
The Idaho Humane Society sends appeals through the mail several times a year. It is true that all of us end up with more mail from worthy causes than we wish to receive. However, direct mail is a very cost-effective way to raise a significant part of our annual budget. Presently, we cannot raise as much money at such a low cost in any other way. So, if you find it annoying to receive mail appeals, let us know. But first, please send a check!
Cruelty Prevention Fund
The Idaho Humane Society rescues many abused animals every year. We rely on your tax-deductible donations to support our rescue efforts. Your donations allow us to place thousands of dogs, cats, and other domestic pets in loving, nurturing homes - sparing them the fate of so many unwanted animals in our society. We greatly appreciate your concern for these creatures and assure you that your gift will do much to ensure their welfare.
You can specify that your donation be used generally to assist the victims of cruelty or you can specify that your donation go to help a particular animal.

Want to help a foster animal but unable to adopt or become a foster parent? You can also help by making a donation toward an animal's adoption fee. Any amount that you donate will help and we will apply it directly toward the adoption fee of any foster animal of your choosing. Your donation will make a difference!

Join our team of dedicated volunteers and foster parents. They are some of the nicest, most caring people that you will ever meet.
Free Dog House
The Idaho Humane Society has a number of used, good condition, dog houses available upon request for low income individuals in need of them as shelter for their dog. If you are interested in obtaining a dog house, call 342-3508 X 2230. You will need to make arrangements to pick it up at the Idaho Humane Society.
Dog Trolleys Needed
The Idaho Humane Society needs donations of new or gently used dog trolleys. Trolleys will be distributed to chained dogs in the community whose owners cannot afford to fence their yard or provide a trolley to their dog. Donations are tax deductible and will make the life of a chained dog much better.
The Idaho Humane Society does not recommend chaining or tying dogs up as a means of confinement. Chaining and tying can increase frustrated and aggressive behavior. As well, chained or tied dogs can become tangled in their chain or rope and become injured. A chained dog is unprotected and can be attacked by other animals or people. If you feel that you have no other alternative but to chain or tie up your dog, then the Idaho Humane Society recommends that you use a "dog trolley." A dog trolley is a long overhead cable to which the dog's lead is attached. This allows the dog to run back and forth the length of the cable so that the dog has more room to move.
You can buy a dog trolley pre-made at local pet stores, or construct one by sliding a ring onto heavy wire or rope and fasten the ends between two posts or trees. Then, connect your dog's lead to the ring. Make sure the lead is short enough to avoid tangling, yet long enough to allow your dog to lie down and get into his dog house. Provide at least 15 feet of clear space for your dog to move around in and be sure to remove any objects or debris that could cause him to become entangled or injured. Don't secure the dog trolley near stairways, fences, decks or porches, and make sure it's a safe distance from all possible "escape routes." When using a dog trolley, don't ever use a choke chain collar, but use a leather or nylon harness instead. Don't ever leave your dog chained outside for more than a few hours at a time.
